Sensationalism and The Rush to Spread False News

Updated: Aug 12

After last week’s post on VoteVanderKamp.com about ethical campaigning, the Vote Vander Kamp Team has received over a dozen emails from brave citizens and community leaders sharing messages they have received from Kent’s opposing campaign team.

As we suspected, they all confirmed Kent’s opponent, through his campaign team, has been purposely disseminating false information about Kent and his involvement with the eFusjon lawsuit after being the told the truth by the original attorney six months ago on January 30th, 2024 (and again last week).

We have chosen to share this particular email. (Click Above) Kent’s opponent has paid over $22,000 for fictitious storytelling. $22,000 is nearly half of his campaign budget to date. This week, his campaign is emailing the community asking for more money to fight “deceptive attacks."

Sensationalism, incomplete stories, theatrical lawsuits, fake social media profiles and the rush to spread false news should not come at the expense of truth and integrity.

Some call it politics, most everyone else calls it... Outrageous. Unethical. Defamatory.

Is this what Deschutes County needs in the next Sheriff? It’s time for change. We cannot afford four more years of the same.

In the meantime, Kent will continue to meet and connect with the community and talk about his plans to fight rising crime, utilize common sense solutions for the homeless crisis, stem the flow of drugs, and bring back fiscal responsibility and respect for taxpayer's money. All without wasting donor money and the theatrics.
